Intercultural Leadership Council

Membership in the Intercultural Leadership Council is open to any UNCG-affiliated student organization whose mission is in line with that of the Office of Intercultural Engagement  — to promote, foster and encourage respect and meaningful inter-cultural and cross-cultural understanding and appreciation of similarities and differences. Special Funding Opportunities

To encourage student groups to offer programs that further advance the mission statement set forth by the Office of Intercultural Engagement, we have set aside funds that can be applied for to help offset the costs of qualifying events. To apply for funds, submit the Intercultural Leadership Council Application Form with the required supporting documents during the “open application submission period” — see details below. The Intercultural Leadership Council will review the requests and notify your organization of the funding decisions according to the schedule below.

APPLICATION SCHEDULE FOR FUNDING REQUESTS:  Fall 2019

APPLICATION PROCESS OPENS: September 12, 2019

APPLICATION PROCESS CLOSES: November 22, 2019

NOTIFICATION DATE: Organizations will be notified at ILC meetings of their funding approval. Below are the dates for the Spring 2019 meetings:

  • September 12, 2019
  • September 26, 2019
  • October 10, 2019
  • October 24, 2019
  • November 7, 2019
  • November 21 , 2019

All meetings will be held in the Office of Intercultural Engagement, room 062 in the EUC, at 4:00pm. Please make arrangements to attend the meeting if you requested allocations in order to provide clarity of information to the council.

Guidelines for Submission

  • Your group must be a recognized UNCG organization in good standing.
  • Members who attend 50% of the previous semester’s meetings will receive priority funding.
  • Your Event Contract with the Office of Campus Activities and Programs must be approved prior to submitting a request to the Intercultural Leadership Council for funding.
  • To be considered, your request must be in accordance with the mission of the Office of Intercultural Engagement. Explain in detail how this program will further OIE’s mission.
    • Only one request for a maximum of $75 per semester can be submitted for consideration for an individual program.
    • Only one request for a maximum of $100 can be submitted for consideration of a co-sponsored collaborative event between two or more organizations, per semester. Each organization involved with the collaborative event may apply.
  • Your event must be open to the UNCG community and held on UNCG property.
  • Funds are to be requested for expenses that can be paid directly by OIE through interdepartmental invoices to other University offices or departments, such as (but not limited to):
    • University catering services (no alcoholic beverages) through Chartwells
    • Advertising in the Carolinian
    • Printing costs through University Graphics and Printing
    • Set-up costs and technical services provided by UNCG entities such as EUC
  • OIE reserves the right to approve any amount up to the requested amount. (Despite approval, allocated funds may on occasion be reduced or rescinded due to conditions not within the control of OIE such as a freeze of funds.)
  • If funds are approved, OIE must review all promotional pieces prior to distribution to ensure that OIE is listed as a sponsor.
