Who are SCOPES?

Student Coordinators of Peer Education (SCOPE) is a leadership position in the Office of Intercultural Engagement (OIE). SCOPEs are undergraduate students who are selected and trained to facilitate diversity and social justice education events and workshops for the Kaleidoscope Program.

Responsibilities

  • Create, plan, and  facilitate engaging programs and interactive workshops for the Kaleidoscope program that promote awareness and appreciation of various social identities and their intersections,(e.g. race, ethnicity, nationality, ability, religion/spirituality, gender, sexuality, class, etc.) and other topics related to social justice education.
  • Actively promote Kaleidoscope program and associated programs and workshops.

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Passion for/ interest in topics related to diversity, social justice and equity
  • Related skills with programming, and leading activities/discussions
  • Ability to collaborate and work well with others
  • Solid communication skills and organizational skills
  • Ability to be creative, innovative, and resourceful
  • Preferable to commit to at least two consecutive semesters
  • Must be in good academic standing, with minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5
  • Must be in good disciplinary standing with the university

Weekly Training/meetings Fridays 1pm-2pm
